Joshwa Baker (or Shwa, for short) is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Helena, Montana. He works with individuals (adolescents and adults) and couples, drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and other relational approaches.
Joshwa believes that meaningful change often begins with curiosity, compassion, and a deeper understanding of ourselves. His approach to counseling is warm, collaborative, and occasionally humorous, creating space for both difficult conversations and moments of laughter. He enjoys helping clients explore the complexities of their inner world, better understand the patterns shaping their lives and relationships, and find practical ways to move forward. His Christian faith informs his values of empathy, grace, and carrying one another's burdens, and he welcomes clients from all backgrounds and beliefs.
Originally from New Orleans, Joshwa moved to Montana in 2012 and earned his master's degree in counseling from Montana State University in 2020. He has been licensed as an LCPC since 2022. Outside of counseling, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, reading fantasy novels, playing board games, and exploring Montana's outdoors. He also enjoys fishing, though he admits it's usually more casting than catching.
